Spam a lot – more crap from Alex Neil estate agents

I don’t think spamming estate agent Alex Neil really cares much about its reputation. A few days after me posting about Alex Neil targeting this blog with spam comments, and that post, Alex Neil estate agents – internet pests, now being the 4th highest link for “Alex Neil estate agents” on Google, it’s done it again.

This one seems to come from a server in Brazil. Clearly they’ve instructed a company to hunt down mentions of “Greenwich” in blogs and given then key words about major developments, like Greenwich Millennium Village and Greenwich Heights.

Of course, as any idiot knows, Greenwich Heights is actually a converted block of Army flats in Woolwich. When launched in the late 1990s, the “W” word was nowhere to be seen on its publicity, despite the fact it faces Woolwich Common. The spam comment plugging Greenwich Heights was attached to a post about a development in Woolwich falsely claiming to be in Greenwich. Let’s just pause on that thought, eh?

Thanks to all who commented on the previous post about Alex Neil, by the way, including reports of “sold” boards on streets they’ve had nothing to do with – there’s one close to here, in Hassendean Road, Blackheath, but no evidence of a sale on the firm’s website. One to watch, maybe.

UPDATE – noon, 18 March: I’m told by someone in the know it is a criminal offence for a company to masquerade as a consumer, and it is a banned practice under EU regulations to “falsely claim or create the impression that the trader is not acting for purposes relating to his trade, business, craft or profession, or falsely represent oneself as a consumer.”

  1. Yup. I let the last one stay in the queue just in case Alex Neil complained about being slagged off, but have zapped them now. Four in total. Strange that they put so much effort into it – they must be wasting a lot of money with some cowboys.

  2. Have you contacted them? Might be interesting to see if they know what their SEO vendors are up to.

  3. got a flyer from them through the letterbox yday. Apparently they’ve just completed several high quality lets in my area at advantageous terms to the owners…

  4. Ooooh, classy!

Haven’t contacted them yet, Neil – walked past their offices yesterday. I’ll keep a watch on this for a while to see if they try it again.
